Is everyone wearing their Protestant orange today? #1

Catholics wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. Protestants wear orange.

A Catholic co-worker mentioned this to me a few years ago when I just happened to wear a bright orange t-shirt on St. Patrick’s Day. He called me a rebel or something. I’m Lutheran.

So now, I make a point of wearing orange on St. Patrick’s Day.

are Lutheran’s anti-St.Patrick or something? because he’s Catholic? hence the orange? um, did you know that the Irish flag has green AND orange in it? so you’re really not visually protesting anything, if that was your intent.

Do the Protestants have their own day? What if Irish Catholics wore green on the Protestant day?

Actually, I was going to make a blog post about this too. It’s quite a coincedence that today is the first tournament game for the fighting Illini whose fans wear all orange.

I’ve been wearing orange on St. Patrick’s Day for years. It’s a holdover from the days when I purposefully let people know that I wasn’t Catholic [I grew up going to an Episcople church]. Now that I practice Buddhism, I probably shouldn’t wear either color, but that seems as silly as Americans calling each other “rebels” when the real issue lies in Ireland.
