here’s a fun side-by-side comparison of ipods and cassettes. Perhaps the most interesting thing they mention is the lifespan of each device. It’s interesting to think that an ipod may only have a lifespan of 3 years (extent of the applecare warranty) whereas a cassette can easily last 30 years (if stored properly.)
yes, but compare the storage space of each! I can fit 15-20 songs on a cassette. I can fit 10,000 songs on my iPod!
one thing not mentioned on the comparison is that both devices have locking mechanism.
The ipod has a sliding switch (visible in photo above. it reveals orange when locked). The cassette has a plastic tab that you break if you want it to lock. And you have to put a piece of tape on over the broken slot if you want to unlock the device.
I love that basic function in the cassette.
backup all those songs to an external hard drive, tom! when my computer crashed last year, i lost tons of iTunes songs. but, they were still all on my iPod, so i can still listen to them on there.
i’ve got a Walkman from 1995 that is still going strong.
Bose doesn’t | didn’t make a SoundDock for Cassettes
Cassettes could fall out of a Walkman and break. Similarly, tape could become tangled, come out of the casssette and|or be destroyed.
