golf carts at zoo

Prior to my family’s visit to Brookfield Zoo yesterday I experienced great soreness from sanding my deck the prior weekend. My wife had a great idea. Zoos should offer golf carts to patrons. I like this idea. I like it very much.

However, there must be regulations for golf carts at zoos. No regulations would result in traffic jams on the walkways. So I suggest that golf carts be available only to people who have spent 10+ hours in the prior weekend sanding their decks. There; that pretty much would mean that myself and maybe a couple other dopes would be seen trekking around the zoo in a golf cart.

You think a golf cart can tip over a cow. I bet if a golf cart hit a cow, the driver would be flung foward and into the cow. And the cow would be like, uh what? Excuse me, did you want me to moooooooove?

I think the cow will tip. Using the equation of momentum = Mass * Velocity. A cow is 1200 pounds. A gas powered golf cart is 625 pounds. If you get a street worthy golf cart that goes around 40 MPH, that is a momentum of 25000 vs 1200 for a net momentum of 23800. Granted the golf cart will sustain a lot of damage and the driver will probably fly out as you said, but I think the cow will tip as well. There are cheaper ways to get steak than ruining a golf cart and possible hosptial bills,… Read more »

Wow, ned. Impressive! However, what if the cow holds onto the ground really really hard with his hooves?

If the guy digs in, I believe they will break a leg and then tip. You are true that digging in will require more force against it. In football, they tell the people to hit lower and come up to try and lift the person in front up a little. The person in front is digging in with the cleats. Not as much damage is done because the two are about the same weight and speed, so the momentum is fairly well balanced.

Sometimes I’ll play football with people and they’ll do that hit and lift thing. It’s very disorientating. I don’t like it. I can see how it’s effective.
