who was Barnes & Noble named after?

It’s funny how you never really think about certain brand names. Until now I never wondered who Barnes & Noble was named after. A little research reveals it’s Charles Montgomery Barnes (not to be confused with The Simpson’s Charles Montgomery Burns) and C. Clifford Noble.

Side note: In 1873 Charles Montgomery Barnes started the family business by entering the second-hand book business in Wheaton, Illinois! I sent an email to the “Center for History in Wheaton, Illinois” asking if they knew more.
