My brother and i were conserving on IM about how Congress is forcing everyone to switch from analog television signals to digital. Here’s the transcript:
spudart: HD DVD format is now dead. Blu-Ray is the official High-Def for DVDs
spudart: it’s about time seeing that tvs are all gonna have to go to hidef next year
yikesmoose: tvs have to go to digital
yikesmoose: not hi-def
yikesmoose: they will turn off the analog signal
spudart: oh digital
spudart: not hi-def?
spudart: digital and hi-def is different?
spudart: that’s dumb
yikesmoose: so if you have an analog tv hooked up to digital cable, then you are fine
spudart: fo real?
yikesmoose: for real
spudart: what about my 2-inch tv?
yikesmoose: good to watch static
yikesmoose: you know the reason they are giving the public for this switch?
yikesmoose: it makes me very angry
spudart: you need to blog this, btw
yikesmoose: it’s something about how the government is saying that public services such as police and fire departments need ALL the analog airwaves. Supposedly televisions are taking up too much analog airwaves for public services to use their equipment. that’s such bull 5hit. If it truly was a concern, then the feds would have shut down analog tvs a long time ago. And Congress even extended the time frame for the analog tv shutdown. I seriously doubt that public services needs ALL this airspace. It’s all about lobbyists for tv manufacturers putting money into congressmen’s pockets to shut down analog tv.
