Here’s a new series. I search the internet for lists of architects and I share a quick look at an architect that I’m not familar with.

Ieoh Ming Pei

He designed The Pyramid at the Louvre in Paris, France. Cool. You’re familar with that. I’m familar with that. But I didn’t know Ieoh Ming Pei designed it. He also did The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University. (see photo below. Photo

I love it. I looks like something out of an Atari game. I’m sure that’s what he intended.

my first thought when i saw that photo of the building (before reading your text) was that it looks like a Nintendo cartridge. Make sure to blow on it first.

It also slightly reminds me of one of those big lumbering machines from Star Wars. I think they were called AT-AT’s or something like that.

It’s funny though that I.M. Pei’s best known work (the Pyramid at the Louvre) is generally disliked by the French people. Most of them think it’s horrible and that it never should have been built.
