quikpod monopod for self-portraits

I initially was going to nominate the quikpod for the dumbest invention ever. It’s basically a monopod that’s marketed for people to take self-portraits. But then i got to thinking that it’s kinda a neat idea. If you’re on a trip, you don’t have to bug a stranger to take your picture. My wife and I have a been a few trips since we were married and we have very few shots of us together. The quikpod would allow us to have pictures together. But, now I’m thinking it is a dumb invention only because you can use a cheaper tripod for the same function. The quikpod sells for $25. It should be $15.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Where is the shutter release? I’m too lazy to check.

I assume you would have to use the timer function on your camera in order to actually take the picture…

Oh my god.

That girl’s boyfriend in the picture is a young “Earnest goes to Paris.”

Either that or he’s a lobotomy patient. He looks…not all there.

I am forever being asked by tourists in Chicago to take their pictures, and quite honestly, I don’t mind a bit!
