Would you believe that there is an actual Mr Eaves? Yea, there is. So when Mr Eaves and Mrs Eaves have kids will they look humanist? Oh man, that’s font humor at its best. That’s so funny.
Side note: Mr Eaves Sans Heavy Italic is AWESOME.

This font reminds me of Futura, in that there is so much difference in the faces. Futura rocks at a normal weight. But put it in bold and forget it, it suddenly becomes sucky. The same holds true for Mr Eaves. The Mr Eaves Sans Heavy totally sucks. However, the italic version of the Heavy does rock.
You’re right, spud. Mr Eaves Heavy looks clunky and a bit awkward. I can’t remember the last time I had something negative to say about the letter “o”, but the “o” in Mr Eaves Heavy is disproportionately heavier than the other characters. Maybe it’s just a visual illusion on emigre’s sample because all the examples of the “o” are surrounded by characters with ascenders.
I avoid Futura as much as possible. Though it’s lighter weights do look nice on some book covers.
