Thank you, Stefan T. Edlis!
Last month Mr. Edlis donated 42 pieces of art to the Art Institute of Chicago. Chicagomag.com mentions: Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstien, and Robert Rauschenberg.
Here’s the official press release. There’s more details on some pieces, but says, “A full list of the works of art and select images in the Edlis/Neeson gift are available upon request.”
Part of the agreement is that the works must be on display for 50 years. It would seem doubtful that means all 42 pieces. ANSWER!: from Crain’s Chicago: “The museum offered to exhibit 42 of Edlis and Neeson’s pieces together for 25 years and then display them throughout the museum or in other places for another 25 years.”
They will be ready for viewing in early 2016. I’m looking forward to early 2016.
