if you like this band, then you’ll like…

cdnow.com used to have a nice little section where could search for a particular band and they would recommend other bands based on what you punched in. Liveplasma.com does just that and it makes it look all pretty and bubbly.

I keyed in a couple of my favorite bands. I was hoping to see some more results, but it’s still nice. You can click on a linked band and see what other bands/singers they are similiar to. That dynamic nature is pretty nice. The “maps” are animated too. You can also key in actors and movies to see what liveplasma thinks are similiar actors and movies.

I agree! But I used Liveplasma to “test” it, to see if it really made sense. I entered “Beck” [he’s my favorite] and was impressed that most of the artists mapped to Beck are in fact artists that I also enjoy!

yes, it works pretty well. i was also “reminded” of some bands that i have been meaning to check out. this confirmed that they are indeed in my ballpark, so i went to iTunes to listen to some samples. good stuff!

Ha! I did the same thing! And actually ended up using it exactly for the purpose for which it is intended. I’m hoping to find some cool 60’s bands

OK, I know this isn’t the place to register complaints, but I just had to say, What the heck? I entered One Inch Punch into the search box and instead of getting results or a message that said “not found”, the engine showed me the results for Michelle Branch! If you’ve ever heard One Inch Punch and Michelle Branch you know they are practically the antithesis of each other …
