Rock Paper Scissors game variants

This is really great. I had a difficult time picking which image to use for this blog post. David C. Lovelace of umop.com has a great collection of Rock Paper Scissor (RPS) games. We all know RPS for the three elements of Rock, Paper and Scissors. umop.com has various variants to the game. For example, RPS-7 is rock, paper, scissors, water, air, sponge, and fire. There is also RPS-9, RPS-11, RPS-15, RPS-25, and even RPS-101.

Not only is it great idea to add new elements to the game, but the illustrations are top-notch and the graphics are layed out in a clean, easy-to-understand manner. My only complaint is that it's nearly impossible to make your hand in the shape of "fire" found on the RPS-7 graphic.

David C. Lovelace's RPS-101 takes the game to its farthest extreme. You can buy the 23 x 35" poster detailing the intricate interwining relationships of the massive 101 hand gestures. It's $20.99 at Lovelace's cafepress store. Want to take the game on the road to a bar or friend's house? Then buy the RPS-101 book for $9.95. "This essential booklet contains all 5,050 spoken outcomes for RPS-101!"

You can buy the RPS-25 graphic on t-shirts, clocks, mugs and more at the "retarded animal babies" cafepress store.

sheer brillance. I'm gonna ask for the RPS-101 book for Christmas. That's for sure.

PAPER DEFEATS AIR?! THAT'S RIDICULOUS. Despite that, I want to play this game, RPS-7.

I'm printing this chart out to hang up at work, so I can master the game of RPS-7.

they should add RPS-7 to the Yahoo Games.

I like the new variation as well. I don't know if I will every play, but it definitely adds a different twist on the standard RPS.

Moose, I was able to make the fire sign as shown on the graphic without trouble. It's not always comfortable holding that position for more than a few seconds, but it's not hard to do.
