Berlin architects Ralf Fleckenstein and Katharina Feldhusen of FF Architekten in collaboration with Martina Wronna have completed a new public library annex in Luckenwalde, Germany.
The facade is TECUŽ Gold, a copper-aluminum alloy.

It includes an overview of the history of Luckenwalde (30 minute train ride from center of Berlin), its current struggles in a post East German environment and how the EU is helping its recovery. And of course this ties into how the new library is to help elevate cultural spirits in Luckenwalde. The library was moved into an old, decaying train station which was rehabbed and had this fascinating annex added. Appropriately, this plalyful annex houses the children's department.
